The First Thing About Me

My blog is not entirely specific. Though I steer away from political and massively controversial subjects, I did not say I “steer clear”. I write across a range of subjects. I write about history, my own and otherwise. I write about the craft known as writing, I write about my art and illustration, I write about house renovation, I include some DIY projects, and I write about the time I took care of aged parents while being a full-time grandmother. If any of these subjects interest you, read on. You might be glad you did.

The First Thing

I want to tell you the first thing about me. You know, when people say I never knew the first thing about her? Well, now you will know the first thing about me.

My Father in heaven loves me. I’m sure glad because I’m not perfect, or sinless. I’m going to quote now an excerpt from Colossians 3. I take this as a personal admonition for my life. These are the apostle Paul’s words.

Since I have been raised with Christ, I must set my hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.

Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is your[a] life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory. 15 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. 16 Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. 17 And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

Why Do I Mention these things?

My blog covers a wide range of subjects. Blogs by definition are simply opinions. I don’t blog much about my faith. However, it is important to know this first thing about me, because my faith tints my world view.

Thank you for visiting. Stay. Read a while. I’ll leave the light on.
